‘The English do love a witticism about breaking wind’
Ian Hislop has picked his highlights from our #IObject exhibition, and this print from the late 18th century is one of them. It shows John Bull, the embodiment of Britain, farting at a portrait of King George III. Artist Richard Newton has titled this piece of in your face comedy ‘Treason!!!’.
