Why are more and more young British women converting to Islam?

A recent report in Britain about the rising number of people converting to Islam has raised alarm bells in conservative quarters.

Research by the organisation "Faith Matters" estimates that there were around 40,000 converts over the last 10 years. The figures suggest that most of them were young white British – averaging about 27 years of age - with women making up 62% of the converts. The decision to take up the Muslim faith can often come out of the blue, as Nik Martin discovered on a recent visit to Leicester.
