DNA FROM ALL
A senior British judge has called for a much bigger DNA database in the UK in the fight against crime.
Sir Stephen Sedley a member of the Court of Appeal says everyone who lives in Britain - and everyone who visits the country too - should be required to give a DNA sample.
The UK already has more than four million DNA profiles on file - the largest such database in the world. And this resource does help police solve as many as 20,000 crimes a year.
But would a DNA database with 70 million profiles be a realistic and practical possibility?
