早移居至七十七號,五先令六丁*(sic)一日 . 三十二先令一星期..甚靜 但太小耳。

郭呂兩君移至羅賓森 Robinson 夫人處 同遊議會大廈 西寺及白金漢宮 (Buckingham Palace) 聖詹姆士街公園 (St. James Park) 倫敦博物館 (London Museum) 。呂君與許君有病 至二時半始吃飯 亦云苦矣。飯後遊國立美術館 (National Gallery)及特拉法爾加廣場 (Trafalgar Square) 。雨甚 濕衣及履 。飯於里昂餐廳, 羊肉不甚佳 帳誤算 余語言不足用無以難之。

晨訪王贛愚君* 王君約余便飯。下午至海德公園(Hyde Park) ,甚大。惜倦甚,不能久行,四時歸。

今日閱《泰晤士報》;此余第一次正式讀英文報也。

王君談及中央黨部所派之留學生,令余愧恧。王君人甚有理想 頃從拉斯基(Laski)研究。

Walter in 1785 as The Daily Universal Register, it became The Times in 1788, publishing commercial news and notices along with some scandal. By the mid-1800s it had developed into a widely respected national journal and daily historical record. Late in the 19th century its reputation and circulation declined, but it returned to financial security after being bought by Alfred Harmsworth, 1st Viscount Northcliffe (1908), and its preeminence in editorial matters and news coverage was reestablished under the editorship of William Haley (1952 – 67). In 1981 it was bought by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.

午飯在順東樓,劉仲熙君請。

下午與陸元誠*先生赴使館並遊雷根特公園(Regent)。.

晚飯羅先生請,在華英樓,遜於順東樓。余尚有中國脾氣,否則盡可用外國辦法也**。

At the turn of the century, Saintsbury edited and introduced an English edition of Honoré de Balzac's novel series La Comédie humaine, translated by Ellen Marriage and published in 1895-8 by J. M. Dent. He went on to edit the series of "Periods of European Literature," contributing the volumes on The Flourishing of Romance and the Rise of Allegory (1897), and The Earlier Renaissance (1901). He subsequently produced some of his most important works, A History of Criticism (3 vols., 1900–1904), with the companion volume Loci Critici, Passages Illustrative of Critical Theory and Practice (Boston, U.S.A., and London, 1903), and A History of English Prosody from the 12th Century to the Present Day (i., 1906; ii., 1908; iii., 1910); also The Later Nineteenth Century (1909).
