The Home Secretary Theresa May has said the government is considering looking outside the police force for its future leaders.
Speaking to Stephen Sackur, the president of the Association of Chief Police Officers, Sir Hugh Orde rejected the proposal saying that leaders from other sectors were not qualified to make life or death decisions.
