The Mary Rose Museum

Thumbnail of mapThe Mary Rose is based in the city of Portsmouth, in the county of Hampshire on the south coast of England. The city is easily accessible by road and rail and is an important port, particularly for ferries to France and northern Spain. Click on the aerial photo for more information.

  • Opening Times

    The Historic Dockyard opens at 10am everyday throughout the year, except when closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
  • From April-October: Last tickets to the attractions are sold at 4.30pm and the Dockyard gates are closed at 6.00pm.
  • From November - March: Last tickets to the attractions are sold at 4.00pm and the Dockyard gates are closed at 5.30pm.

Portsmouth is connected to London by the A3 and there are regular coach services from London Victoria. If arriving by car in the city, follow the signs for "Historic Ships", there is ample parking space close to the site.

There are frequent train services to Portsmouth from London Waterloo, the journey time being about 1 hour 30 minutes. Portsmouth Harbour station is less than five minutes walk from the Mary Rose Exhibition. You can find train times and prices from London Waterloo from:
